Thomas Nowotny is a Professor of Informatics at the University of Sussex with a background in physics. He is one of two co-directors of Sussex AI Centre of Excellence and the head of the AI research group in the School of Engineering and Informatics. His research interests are wide and interdisciplinary, within and between computational neuroscience, hybrid systems, and neuro-inspired AI and robotic control. Particular interests include insect olfaction, hybrid brain-computer experiments, event-based neural networks, and their use in neuromorphic computing.
